Obviously, the screensaver is your problem

My PowerMac G5 has been freezing and all of the fans go full blast. I have learned that this is called a “Boeing”, as in the jet it resembles when this happens. I just called Apple and they suggested that I bring the computer in for a checkup. This is the second computer I’ve had with this same problem, so I suspect that the problem is not with my particular computer. I just read dozens of posts on Apple’s forum about the problem – others like me who have had their computer replaced but still see their computer turn into a hairdrier.

After reading through many posts I think one solution might be to change screensavers.

No, seriously. It always crashes with I have the pretty “Flurry” screensaver on, and someone said that it’s suspected to be a problem with the video card or video rendering. Wouldn’t it be nice if changing screensavers fixed my broken computer? Has this ever solved a computer problem in the history of mankind?

My G5 pulled a Boeing right before its hard drive crashed two weeks after I got it, but it happened while I was on vacation so I’m not sure exactly what transpired. I just found dead except for the small hurricane it was generating with the fans. Presumably, the fans aren’t a precursor to hard drive death … but be careful!

Except for that, I love my G5 🙂

A new screensaver did not fix the problem. I’m hoping that more RAM will help.
